Meet Our Founder

Dr. (Mrs.) Maureen Umemmuo-Umeakuewulu (JP) FWACS, FMCOG, FICS is a Fellow of the West African College of Surgeons, National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria, and International College of Surgeons. She is a Senior Consultant Obstetrician & Gynaecologist with National Hospital Abuja and works in the Gynae-oncology unit of the hospital. She is a researcher and has done many publications, especially in Gynae-oncology, women's well-being, and domestic violence. One of her articles was mentioned in the John J. Sciarra International Journal of Gynecology & Obstetrics (IJGO) Prize Paper Award for best clinical-research Article from a Low/Middle-Income Country, 2021. She is a reviewer of prominent journals like the British Medical Journal (BMJ), Journal of Pharmaceutical Research International, BioMed Central (BMC) Journal, etc. She has received many awards: Including role Model of innovation in special recognition for her contribution to the success of the MWAN 2019-2021 Biennium, 2021 Woman of the Year, MWAN North Central Zone, and many other awards for her philanthropy works to mention but a few She is the president of the Association of Catholic Medical and Dental Practitioners of Nigeria, FCT-Chapter(ACMPN-FCT), President-Elect of the Medical Women Association of Nigeria-FCT chapter(MWAN-FCT), Council member, the Society of Obstetrics and Gynaecology of Nigeria (SOGON) and has held many other executive positions in different professional bodies, She is the founder of the Dona-Maureen Foundation, a Non-Governmental Organization whose main works centers on the care of women, children, girls education, and widows’ empowerment. She is married with 4 sons.

We are a non- governmental organization established with the aim of improving the lives of the less privileged children in our society through quality education, healthcare, advocacy and child’s right governance.
